Why Spaghetti Doesn't Break in Half

Try a little experiment: take a dry spaghetti, and bend it until it cracks. How many pieces do you think you'll get? Two? Wrong. An uncooked spaghetti can break into three, seven or even ten pieces only. Why? Two French physicists have solved the mystery.....

Ok, I came across a website that translates into Japanese. So, running my name through it, this is what I got.

This is what the name "Cris" looks like in Japanese:

"Cris" in Japanese characters

It is pronounced "KURISU". (Consonants are pronounced more or less the same way as in English. "I" sounds like ee in meet, but shorter. "U" sounds like oo in hook, but with less rounding of the lips.)

I just thought it was interesting, if you want to check it out for yourself, you can go to http://www.japanesetranslator.co.uk/your-name-in-japanese/

Vic Edelbrocks Garage

Vic Edelbrocks Garage

I was going to do a post on this, but I dont think I could have summed it up as well as the club president did, so here is what he wrote.

EDELBROCK TOUR

What a great sunny day it was. This was the first non-rainy weekend I've had at home since, well I don't remember when. It was Easter weekend and Saturday Vic Edelbrock Jr. opened his 800,000 square foot facilities to the All Mustang and Ford Club and the So.Cal.Falcon Club. In all, just under 130 people, 10 from our club and some 70 cars caravanned out to Torrance.

Vic Edelbrock himself opened the doors and seemed thrilled to be speaking to us. His opening talk was very informative and told of many personal events. Most were good, some funny and a few were tragic.

I was lucky enough to part of his personal and small tour group. He walked us through every part of the Edelbrock Empire. Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales and Engineering were opened to us. Massive machines and skilled hand labor made cylinder heads before our eyes. Intake manifolds, valve covers, water pumps and even shock absorbers were being designed and built all in Torrance, CA.

After we saw all that there was to see, lunch was served. Togo's sandwiches for all.

Oh, I almost forgot, we saw Vic Jr.'s collection of cars that included two his father had owned in the 30's 40's and 50's.

Vic Sr. passed away unexpectedly in the early 60's at the age of 49 and did not get to see what his son had done with the company he started. From 5,000 square feet of shop space in 1964 to 800,000 now, Edelbrock is an amazing company that still makes it all here in the USA.

I was also lucky enough to be in the group with Vic Edelbrock, and it was a great experence. If you ever get the oppertunity to take a tour of this facility, I would highly recommend the trip.

Well, I have not done a great job of keeping this up to date, but I have done really well at not complaining, until now. This post is a rant, you have been warned, I have nothing good to say, I am just complaining, if you read past here you will just be reading how frustrated I am. If you live locally you may have heard that a car went over the edge of a cliff in Azusa Canyon a week ago, well, wensday night the car was finally found, and they were doing a recovery of the car on thursday. It went down a 125 foot cliff, then sank 135 feet underwater near the damn. I went out and shot video all day. I had shots of the rescue divers bringing the car to the surface with inflatable bags, I had shots of LA County Serriffs Air Rescue 5 pulling 3 of the divers from the water by cable, I had shots of the car being draged from the water, I had shots of what was left of the mangled Toyota MR2, and I even had an interview with the CHP investigator who was not planning on media being there and was wearing a Hawaian T-shirt and jeans. Then there is Ron, a guy who used to work for Inland News, key words being used to, who showed up three hours late so missed everything but the car coming out of the water, and then left early without getting a soundbyte just so he could race out of the canyon and feed video before me. He had even said to my face that since I was there first and had the prior video he would not feed. Since he was greedy enough to not finish his duties and get the full story, he got more sales, since his video feed first. As you can tell I am not happy about this at all, and niether is anyone else at Inland News. So, we are simply going to start covering his area, so he may have stabbed us in the back and stole a story out from under us, but he will lose many more storys in the future because of it. The photos included with this post are video stills from the package I shot.

Windmill Chino Hills State park

Originally uploaded by Crismateski.
Ok, I have found a new photo hosting site, so I may be able to get photos in here. I will still be keeping the text america site at http://cmphotography.textamerica.com/ since it is so easy and convienant. So if things get kind of wierd here, you know why.

For the test post I decided to use a shot of an antique windmill in the Chino Hills State Park. I took this shot about 2 years ago on a Fugica st605n Slr camera that my grandfather bought new. The photo was entered in a national compitition and did very well, and has been published in a coffe table photography book.

This was emailed to me, so I am not really sure of the true author to give them credit, but I completely agree:

The 2005 Revised Version of The Declaration of Independence "We The
People Of The United States" The following has been attributed to State
Representative Mitchell Kaye from GA. This guy should run for President one day...

" We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help
everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots,
keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the
blessings of debt free liberty to ourselves and our
great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby TRY ONE MORE TIME to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt
ridden, delusional, and other bed-wetters. We hold these truths to be
self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of
Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights as such:

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any
other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them,
but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country
is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just
you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different
opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you
stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful, do not expect
the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently
wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing.
Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly
help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing
generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve
nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional
couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be
nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in
public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people.
If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be
surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If
you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens,
don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a
place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a
life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want
you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we
expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and
vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American
means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is
a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic
laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you
are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you
came from!

(lastly....)

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or
heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And
yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or
no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST
is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with
it, TOUGH!!!!

It's about time common sense is allowed to flourish.
Sensible people of the United States speak out because if you do not, who will?

Vote - it's as American as an American can be!

Well, I hope you agree as well, until next time

So I know I keep saying that I will update this more often, and it never happens so I am not going to say it this time. I am just going to post this update and we will see what happens. It has been a long time, and alot has happened, so I am just going to touch on things quickely. Paige and I are still together. I Basically quit at Citrus. I am nolonger working in the shop, and with out it the shop I dont make enough to pay the bills. I am going to try and still do shows when I can, but I don't know what will happen with that. I have been working alittle harder at the news video, and have sold a couple of stories during the recent storms. I have also been doing some work for a company called American Neonics in Hollywood. We have been doing the neon for the Grammy Awards, and a t-mobile commercial. I really do not want to work for them, it is not what I want to do, but it is a paycheck while I look for the job that I want.
